Foders.com (2009) - “The presidente referred to here is John F. Kennedy, who walked by during his 1963 visit as the hotel was under construction. You're looking at standard, medium-priced, business-class accommodation here. Each of the comfortable rooms has one double and one single bed. The hotel draws a large contingent of business and leisure-travel guests. The rooftop terrace with hot tub has one of those secret great views of the city that no one knows about.”

Frommers.com (2009) - “This modern business-class hotel is a good midrange option in the heart of downtown. Although the hotel's eight stories practically qualify it for skyscraper status, very few of the rooms have any view to speak of; those with north-facing windows are your best bet. Rooms are all well-kept and feature the basic amenities you'd expect; recent upgrades have added more contemporary furnishings and decor. If you want more space, opt for one of the junior suites. Rooms and suites with a "spa" designation come with a private Jacuzzi. The master suite is a massive two-bedroom affair, featuring a widescreen TV in the living room and a private eight-person Jacuzzi. There's a very popular casual cafe-style restaurant just off the street. While similar in style and vibe, the Presidente is a bit more tranquil and subdued than the Del Rey, especially after dark.”

The 88-room Hotel Presidente is about 20 mins. from the international airport and situated a few blocks from San Jose's cultural landmarks, including the National Theatre, the Gold and Jade Museums, and the National Museum. Guests are within walking distance of historic downtown with its cafes, restaurants and shops. Standard rooms measure 215-375 sq. feet and can be configured with one or two beds. Each room has cable tv and Internet service, international phone line, a/c, safety box and hair dryer. Breakfasts are served in the hotel’s popular café. Temperate climate.

The full-service Hotel Presidente offers 100 rooms in the heart of downtown San Jose. Accommodations range from perfectly appointed and elegant standard and spa rooms, to three types of spacious suites. A full breakfast buffet is included in every stay. Rooms include: oversized safety box (accommodates most laptop computers); Internet access via cable; hair dryer; quiet air conditioning; 32" LCD TV with cable service; international dialing and voice mail; mini bar; room service; turndown service; and laundry and dry cleaning service (additional charges apply).

With its enviable view of Central Avenue - Costa Rica’s famous pedestrian boulevard - and complete menu, the News Café at El Presidente is the best place in downtown San Jose to have a delicious and relaxed meal. Start your day with our hearty breakfast. At lunch, choose from delicious salads, sandwiches and burgers. If you crave pasta or steak, stop in for dinner. Our full menu features American specialties and Costa Rican delicacies. Our coffee bar features only the finest export-quality Costa Rican blends.
