This trip includes a private van and driver and professional Naturalist Guide during Days 1 to 11. Start this active family adventure with a white water trip down the Pejibaye River then fly to Tortuguero to observe turtle nesting (Jun-Oct only) and kayak the flooded forests of the National Park. Then fly to Manuel Antonio for an outrigger canoe trip following the Pacific coast under impressive cliffs to a secluded beach. End the day in Monteverde in the highlands. While in Monteverde, you'll will hike in the cloud forest looking for the rare Resplendent Quetazal and visit a family sugar mill. Next visit the Arenal Volcano area for 2-1/2 adventure-filled days hiking the Hanging Bridges trails, soaking in a hot springs, biking the north shore of Arenal Lake and participating in other activities. This is an activity-filled trip with several opportunities to hike in Costa Rica's forests and bird watch. You will visit the La Selva Biological Station in Sarapiqui to experience the rainforest and learn about the country's lowland wildlife and pre-Colombian culture. From here you will head to the highlands, first staying at a secluded spa resort with hiking trails to three scenic waterfalls. Next you'll stay in the Arenal Volcano area to walk the Hanging Bridges trails, soak in a natural hot springs and take a half-day bike ride. After exploring the cloud forest and a horseback ride in Monteverde, stay on the Pacific Coast.

Activity-filled trip for families interested in Costa Rica’s agricultural roots and natural ecology. First head to Sarapiqui for a boat tour and visit to a working dairy farm and cacao processing center. Then head to La Selva Biological Station in the Caribbean lowlands to walk in this extraordinary bird and wildlife sanctuary. In the highlands near the Arenal Volcano, visit a sugar mill and walk the Hanging Bridges trails. Here you will also take a half-day bike ride and soak in a natural hot springs. The last days of your trip are in Monteverde, where you will walk in the Cloud Forest Reserve, visit a “bat jungle” and frog pond, and learn about coffee production on a family farm.

This is an active and engaging itinerary that takes you to both coasts as well as to the highlands. During the trip you will be accompanied by a professional Naturalist Guide, who will introduce you to the beauty and complexity of the rainforest and help you to see some of the worlds’ most exotic tropical animals and plants. The trip starts with a coastal outrigger canoe tour along Pacific beaches and a canopy tour. Then head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and Arenal, where you will bike under the shadow of the Volcano and soak in a natural hot springs. Finally, in Tortuguero, on the Atlantic, you will kayak the backwater creeks of the National Park and observe turtle nesting (Jun-Oct only).

Then drive to the Arenal Volcano area for a half-day mountain bike tour on the slopes of the Volcano. On Day 5, float the Penas Blancas River and soak in a natural hot springs. Then head to Guiones Beach on the Pacifc coast for two full days. A horseback ride on the beach is included. The day before your departure, raft the Class II-IV Pacuare River, an exciting and scenic trip that includes a gourmet riverbank lunch, cocktail and photo CD. (Min. age 12 years.)

After exploring Tortuguero, fly back to San Jose and drive to the Arenal area to view the active volcano. Your last few days will be in Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Coast. This trip includes a Tortuguero boat or kayak tour on Day 3 and your choice of one half-day excursion in Manuel Antonio.
