Accompanied by a station naturalist on site, rub shoulders with field biologists while you explore this 30-year-old jungle reserve in Sarapiqui. La Selva Biological Station is owned and operated by the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) a consortium of more than 50 U.S. and Costa Rican institutes of higher learning. The studies being carried out at La Selva represent the forefront of our knowledge about tropical rainforest biology. Over 400 bird species have been reported from La Selva and include Crested Owl, Rufous-vented Ground Cuckoo, Sungrebe, Chestnut-bellied Heron, and Cinnamon Woodpecker.
