This is a scenic trip that starts in the highlands near Arenal, where you will walk over cascading gorges on the Hanging Bridges trails at the base of the Volcano. Then you will stay at Monteverde Lodge to visit the Cloud Forest Reserve. From January to July, depending upon your luck and patience, you may observe the Resplendent Quetzal in its natural habitat. Spend your last four nights in Costa Rica at The Four Seasons, where you will have time to relax on the hotel's two private beaches, in the spa, or fine tuning your game on the championship golf course.

Start this vacation with a tour of Costa Rica's capital city, San Jose. Then head to the highlands for a glimpse of the active Arenal Volcano and a walk on the Hanging Bridges trails. Later your family will soak in a natural hot springs in the shadow of the volcano. Next, head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve to walk in the forest and enjoy a sunset horseback ride. Leaving the highlands, head to Tamarindo Beach for two days. Here, activities for all ages can be enjoyed (at additional cost).

Drive to Monteverde, stopping en route to experience the Waterfalls Canopy Tour near Carara National Park. In Monteverde you will have guided tours to the Cloud Forest Reserve and Frog Pond and take a sunset horseback ride. In Arenal, see the active volcano while soaking in a hot springs and walk the Hanging Bridges trails. Then fly to Tortuguero for boat tours into the National Park, home to more than 300 species of birds and the Atlantic Green Sea Turtle (turtle nesting tours Jun-Oct only). End your activity-filled vacation on the beach at Lapa Rios Resort.

This is an active and engaging itinerary that takes you to both coasts as well as to the highlands. During the trip you will be accompanied by a professional Naturalist Guide, who will introduce you to the beauty and complexity of the rainforest and help you to see some of the worlds’ most exotic tropical animals and plants. The trip starts with a coastal outrigger canoe tour along Pacific beaches and a canopy tour. Then head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and Arenal, where you will bike under the shadow of the Volcano and soak in a natural hot springs. Finally, in Tortuguero, on the Atlantic, you will kayak the backwater creeks of the National Park and observe turtle nesting (Jun-Oct only).

This is an activity-filled trip that takes you from the highlands of Arenal and Monteverde to the coral reefs of Isla del Caño. You will begin in Arenal with a float trip on the Peñas Blancas River. Then walk the Hanging Bridges trails and soak in a natural hot springs in the shadow of the volcano. In Monteverde, you'll hike with a naturalist guide through the Cloud Forest and from January to July - depending upon your luck and patience - you may observe the Resplendent Quetzal in its natural habitat. Finally fly to the Osa Peninsula staying at Drake Bay. You will have three full days to explore the area, hike in the National Park and snorkel the reefs of Caño Island.

Begin your trip on Costa Rica's North Atlantic Coast near Tortuguero National Park, one of the last large areas of tropical rainforest in Central America. Here too is an important sea turtle nesting beach, where from June to Oct. thousands of turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. After exploring Tortuguero, fly back to San Jose and drive to the Arenal Volcano area to walk the Hanging Bridges trails. You will also explore the cloud forests of Monteverde and perhaps observe the elusive and beautiful Resplendent Quetzal (Jan.-July only). Your last few days will be in Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Coast. This trip includes six guided nature tours.
