This is a run on the high upper section of the Pacuare for the expert rafter. This section offers almost continuous class III and IV rapids. The last rapid is so technical and exciting that it is known as "Which Way?" The put-in is about 1 hour 45 minutes from Turrialba, and it is the perfect second day raft trip for the white water rafter who has not yet had enough. This section of the river winds through remote Indigenous settlements and offers a rare view of life on the riverbank.
Begin with breakfast at your hotel in Turrialba, then transfer to the put-in site and proceed down river. Lunch is on the riverbank. Total river time is an intense 2-½ hours, with a mid-afternoon take-out in San Joaquin. Transfer back to Turrialba or San Jose by arrangement. Min. age 15 years. Min. of six participants and advance reservations required.
