ABOUT WHITEWATER RAFTING
Unlike other action sports, which require a great deal of frustrating practice time, given an experienced guide, anyone in reasonable physical condition can learn, in half an hour, to paddle down the river like a pro. The river trips we offer range in difficulty from float trips, suitable for almost any age and ability, to very difficult, class V runs, suitable for only experienced white water rafters.
The unique appeal of whitewater rafting is that, while bathed in beauty, you alternate from the tranquility of drifting lazily down quiet currents to the sheer excitement of hurtling through exploding white water. This combination of calm and intense emotion leaves you not only relaxed, but cleansed.
WHO SHOULD GO
For safety reasons and insurance purposes, age and experience requirements are strictly enforced on all of our river trips.
WHICH RIVER?
Water level and level of difficulty can vary significantly throughout the year. We reserve the right to change the trip to another river if levels are too low or too high.
ITEMS TO BRING TO THE RIVER
Participants should be prepared for exposure to the sun and water and should bring shorts and/or a swimsuit, T-shirt to avoid sunburn, river sandals or any kind or shoes that can get wet and strap or tie on your feet, a strap to secure glasses to head, full set of dry clothes for after the river trip, plastic bag for wet clothes, wind breaker, sunscreen, towel.
EXTREME WHITEWATER RAFTING
We occasionally run several Class V and Class V+ rivers that will challenge the most experienced rafters. If you have rafted extreme rivers and feel that want the added danger and excitement of rafting on the edge, please let us know and we will be happy to give you detailed information on the rivers and consider them for an extreme rafting adventure.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Level of difficulty varies greatly according to the amount of water in the river. Class I-II Rivers normally suitable for young children can become very dangerous at extreme flood stage. Rivers in the tropics rise suddenly with much less warning than they do in the temperate zone. We reserve the right to change any trip to another river if the levels are too high. Occasionally we also have to change a trip because there is not enough water in the river.
TESTIMONIAL:
April 2005: "Our family had a wonderful time while traveling in the beautiful country of Costa Rica and the whitewater raft expedition was certainly a highlight of our trip.
Team leader Danny, as well as Diego, George and Carlos, provided us a very professional and safe river raft journey. Danny answered a ton of our questions about the country, it's agricultural products, birds and plants.
We enjoyed the hot breakfast and that lunch - nothing short of splendid! A great presentation and very delicious food. We will have no problem in recommending your services to others. Thanks again for a very fun and exciting trip! -Patrick, Kathy & Rebecca Lynch |
