Transfer Guide

Iris was born in the rural village of, Jicotea, in the region of Turrialba (the white water rafting region of Costa Rica) on April 3, 1991.

During her childhood and adolescence, she was always in contact with Nature, and living in a region where tourism is part of daily life. Due to this, in 2010 she began to study Ecological Tourism with the goal of becoming a Naturalist Guide.

Iris began working for Costa Rica Expeditions in 2015 as a Transfer Guide, a great fit because the part time job to continue with her studies. She has also worked guiding local environmental education groups to different protected areas of the country. Iris recently graduated from the university and is beginning the process of transitioning from being a Transfer Guide to a Naturalist Guide with Costa Rica Expeditions.

  In her free time Iris enjoys hiking in wild areas, where, as she says, " you can discover all the wonderful things that Nature has to offer". She also loves visiting her parents and four siblings, who continue to live in the small village where Iris grew up.
