How to Work With Your Planner
You've started a dialogue with your Travel Specialist when you first send your tentative Wish List.
You'll communicate back and forth and temper the itineraries they suggest, until you say Great! That’s Ideal!
Only then do they ask your approval to book your itinerary so they can reserve for you the lodges and arrange everything else your plan requires.
Tips for Making Your Communication more Effective:
- Do tell your Travel Specialist early on how much you want to spend on this vacation. It will save both of you time and focus your attention on lodging, transportation and guides that are fitting with the budget that you have in mind for this vacation. We offer the best available in each price range.
- Do tell your Travel Specialist about vacations that you have enjoyed in the past. What company you traveled with, what you loved about it and what you would change.
- Do take your Travel Specialist up on the offer of a call to discuss your vacation in the early planning stages. If you are traveling with a companion or your family invite them to participate in the call. Hearing each other’s voices will help your communication tremendously. We’d be happy to help you set up a conference call.
- Do tell us about the loved ones who you are traveling with and what would make this trip special for them. If there are children, their ages, interests. If there are grandparents, their special interests, must see sights or wildlife and physical limitations if any. The more we know about the dreams and illusions of each of the participants, the better. Let us know how you are related and if you’ve traveled together before.
- Be sure your Travel Specialist is aware of any dietary restrictions or special needs.
- Do discuss the time frames that you have available to travel early in the planning process. Different times of year offer different highlights. Your Travel Specialists recommendations will vary depending on the time of year.
- Do tell us about your traveling style. What is most important to you? Organization or spontaneity?
- If you are going to include a Naturalist Guide (highly recommended) in your itinerary, do discuss the kind of personality and specialization that you would most enjoy. Meet our Guides →
- If you are interested in interacting with local people, let your Travel Specialist know what sort of interaction you would envision. Would you like to go to a soccer game? Help local children learn English? Watch a Costa Rica bullfight which consists of chasing a bull in a ring? Watch a parade? Or go to a cooking class?
